The ON24 platform is comprised of web-based tools used for the development and production of customizable webcasts with synchronized slides and interactivity (Q&A, audience polling, surveys, etc.). The audience interfaces, which typically include registration, lobby page, and player console, are delivered with HTML and Javascript. The back-end runs on Java/J2EE.
The technology is delivered as an ASP (Application Service Provider) solution. The architecture generally consists of an Oracle database, Weblogic application servers, and Apache web servers running Solaris. Real Networks and Microsoft-based technology are used for encoding and streaming live and on-demand media (video and/or audio). The platform also supports the use of flash (SWF files) in webcast events.
