5 facts about B-to-B Webcasts
January 24, 2007
By Frank Barnako

Business-to-business Webcasts are an interesting use of the Internet, but they're not reaching large audiences. On24 issued a report saying an average of about 320 people "attended" one of its 1,261 audio or video productions-for-hire during the first half of 2006.

That may be OK, given that most of ON24's programs are seminars, workshops, and presentations. ON24's business is growing. There was a 33% increase in the number of Webcasts it produced in the first six months of 2006 compared to the first six months of 2005. The company pitches its services to companies which want to market themselves and find business leads.

Findings:

  • More people sign up for, and attend, video Webcasts. Audiocasts are becoming less popular.
  • Webcasting is an American thing: 88% of attendees were from the US, 7% from Canada, and 2% from India
  • 85% of Webcasts were live.
  • The average person stayed with a live Webcast 39 minutes.
  • 7% of attendees asked a question during the Webcast.
