ON24 platform cookie policy

Our ON24 Platform, which includes services related to ON24 Elite, ON24 Virtual Conference , ON24 Engagement Hub, and ON24 Target (collectively, the “Platform”) uses cookies to operate and improve our Platform and to provide you with a secure and positive experience when you use our Platform. This Platform Cookie Policy applies to our Platform and provides you with information about the types of cookies our Platform uses and the purposes for using those cookies.

Please read this Platform Cookie Policy carefully for more information about why we use cookies and your choices regarding cookies on our Platform.  For a list of all the cookies used on our Platform, please review our cookie list below.  For further information about this Platform Cookie Policy, please contact privacy@on24.com.

What is a cookie?

A browser (or HTTP) cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that is transferred to your browser through our Platform. Cookies allow us to operate and secure our Platform, remember users who are logged in, understand how users navigate through and use our Platform and associated services, and to display personalized content and targeted ads on our Platform and on third-party sites and online services.

Types of cookies

First and third-party cookies: whether a cookie is ‘first’ or ‘third’ party refers to the domain placing the cookie.

First-party cookies on our Platform are those set by the ON24.com domain.

Third-party cookies on our Platform are cookies that are set by a domain other than that of the website being visited by the user. If a user visits a website and another entity sets a cookie through that website, this would be a third-party cookie.

Persistent cookies: these cookies remain on a user’s device for the period of time specified in the cookie. They are activated each time that the user visits the website that created that particular cookie.

Session cookies: these cookies allow website operators to link the actions of a user during a browser session. A browser session starts when a user opens the browser window and finishes when they close the browser window. Session cookies are created temporarily. Once you close the browser, all session cookies are deleted.

What cookies do we use and why?

Our Platform uses the following categories of cookies:

‘Strictly Necessary’ cookies let you move around the Platform and use essential features like secure areas and login screens. Without these cookies, we cannot respond to your requests or provide you with the services you request or access on our Platform. For example, we use these cookies: to remember information you have entered on forms during a web browser session; to identify you as being logged into our Platform; for security purposes; and to route users to specific applications of a service, or specific servers.

These cookies are necessary to the proper functioning of the Platform, so if you block these cookies the Platform may not function properly.

‘Performance’ cookies collect information about how you use our Platform (e.g., which pages you visit and if you experience any errors). They are used to help us improve how the Platform works, understand the interests of our users and carry out Platform analytics, and test different designs and features..  Some of these cookies are managed for us by third parties.

‘Functional’ cookies enable us to provide enhanced functionality and personalization.   For example, we use these cookies to provide certain features (such as embedded content); improve your visit; remember settings you’ve applied, such as language, layout, text size, preferences and colors; save your cookie preferences; and remember if you have engaged with particular content on the Platform so that we don’t show it again. Some of these cookies are managed for us by third parties.

Please note, that your preferences are applied on a browser and device basis. So, you will need to set your cookie preferences for each browser and device you use to access our Platform.
