3 for ’13–ON24 names key enterprise communication trends
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.— January 31, 2013— ON24, Inc., the global leader in webcasting and virtual event solutions, today announced its list of key 2013 enterprise communication trends. The analysis is based on feedback ON24 has received from its more than 700 enterprise customers, including IBM, CA Technologies, Merck, Unilever, JPMorgan Chase, Deloitte, Credit Suisse, Ernst & Young, Amazon and New York Life.
1. Social media, the new interactivity protocol, will fuel virtual communications growth
Social media—and its integration with virtual communications platforms—will facilitate a transition from stand-alone virtual events and webcasts to persistent virtual environments in which communication occurs, virtually, on an ongoing basis. This will enhance engagement, foster the creation of online communities and fuel the growth of the virtual communications market. The annual average market growth rate for the next five years will exceed 20%.
2. Online training will become the new normal
More training will go online than ever before. Out of the 3,000 registrants of ON24’s Virtual Learning Edge virtual conference, fully 9 in 10 (91%) HR and training professionals plan to increase virtual training use in 2013, and 1 in 3 (33%) even said they would be increasing use by more than 25%. ON24’s market research indicates that 74% of learning professionals are considering virtual learning environments in the next 6 to 12 months and that 72% are considering training webinars.
3. Mobile will see equal footing with desktops for enterprise content consumption
Mobile will gain ground for enterprise content consumption. Since ON24 made virtual events and webcasts accessible via smartphones and tablets in 2011, it has seen rapid growth of mobile usage on its platform. Mobile consumption jumped dramatically this past year— more than 300%. ON24 predicts mobile usage on its platform to increase another 100% in 2013.
